Startplatz-Beschreibung

Big, nicely sloped field with windsock. Advanced pilots usually walk up into the steeper part of the slope to get an earlier take-off time. Thermal is usually over the trees slightly to the left of the launch. Brunnihütte take off : 46.8426 N; 8.41008 E, 1860m. Schonegg: take off : 46.8435 N; 8.41665 E, 2080m.

Anfahrt

Luzern (Lucern) - Stans - Engelberg. In Engelberg take the cable car to Ristis, then the lift to Brunni Hütte. Take the path either down to the lower launch or the small path following the slope to the east. Once you on the ridge go up and get yourself a place to launch. On good days there are many pilots, you cant miss it.

Wetter

Can get rough when the easterly wind (Bise) is strong. Do NOT fly when there is Föhn (Southerly wind combined with high differences in pressure between the south and the north of Switzerland Locarno - Zürich > 3 hpa difference). Be aware of turbulences when the wind is westerly.

Regeln / Luftraum

At the valley entrance (about 5 km north of the launch) there is the CTR of Buochs and Alpnach. You need clearance to enter or cross this airspace.

ATTENTION: in the whole valley ('Engelbergertal') there are NUMEROUS, UNMARKED, BARELY VISIBLE cables!!! Check info at gondola stations/ ask local pilots! This cables very often are in positions, where you would expect them last!
