takeoff overlooking town of louis trichardt, located in limpopo province, south africa, very good road leading up to hanglip main picnic area, parking under shady trees, a short walk to take off, lay your glider out, pull up and fly! launch is at 1600 metres above sea level, flying area is located in military airspace, so contact the site controler to get advance clearance, total area to fly in 150 sq, kilometres, ceiling restriction is at 9500 feet above ground,

Anfahrt

from johannesburg by road is about 4,5 hours travelling, roads are very good, with plenty of accomodation availiable in louis trichardt.

Wetter

thunderstorms in summer, valley release late afternoons, with poor to mild flying conditions in winter times. Change of season brings Switchy wind directions( ie winter to spring) if wind is from the north ,be very carefull of SEVERE ROTOR !!!!

Regeln / Luftraum

due to military airspace flying is limited to public holidays, saturdays, and sundays, BUT ONLY IF PRIOR PERMISSION FROM ATC HAS BEEN OBTAINED!!

turn-around time from landing to launch is about 45 minutes on a lazy drive up to hanglip main picnic area, the area is very scenic, and the minimum license requirements is S.A.H.P.A. Sport Lisence. Airspace controllers require all pilots to fly with airband radio, and to make arrangements for flying EVERYTIME one wants to fly.
