Take-off description

On the right going up, just before the top farmed land. Here the birds of prey like to soar. Site may have been disused since anyone was last there, you can probably get it made flyable for 50p by a local with a machette. In the morning the prevailing wind blows from the NE, but lightens and veers as the sun moves round during the day. Early morning to 3pm are better launch conditions, thereafter there are less thermal gusts to use to launch in. Afternoon heating of west-facing slopes may counter the NE prevailing wind, so perhaps look for birds of prey on west-facing slopes for potential late afternoon launch sites.

Getting there

3km walk walk from Kindia city centre. Or take motorcycle to a bit closer in. 300m climb vertically.

Weather

November to April is dry season. Has only rained once in living memory in February. In February, the wind can blow more strongly from any direction. The warning sign is increased wind noise at dawn. In March the wind is lighter.

Comments

Take a couple of litres of water. It's very hot, especially if you've had to climb. Water available in village near takeoff. In the late afternoon birds of prey soar over to the right, 700m to the SSE.
