Take-off description

The Site is in a active Iron Ore mine, and due to this had more rules and regulations than the average site, please be sure to observe all the site rules, as access to the site is sensitive! The Launch is Specially Bulldozed for Paragliding and Hang Gliding, on the top of a gravel dump on top of the mountain. The launch is steep, and faces North, though it will fly almost any wind direction due to the strong thermal wind generated on the slope below launch. There is a strong vertical component in the wind on Launch, and it is possible to fly in wind that may feel like it is too strong.

Getting there

Access must be arranged with one of the two Site officers, as getting to launch is not obvious, and first time visitors are not allowed un guided.

Weather

SW wind can be turbulent, with heavy sink at times.

Site is Basic rated with a min of 60 flights + sign off by Site officer.

Comments

It is required to do induction at the mine annually to be able to access the launch, not only for pilot, but for anyone wishing enter the mine property.
