Take-off description
Classic Vancouver Island logging road.
Getting there
Hiking access (two main routes), or 4x4 with gate key (only weekends).
Rules / airspace
MANDATORY FREQUENCY: 8NM around Port Alberni Airport, 3300 feet ASL 122.875. HAGAR required (Class E airspace). FLARM highly recommended as you're flying with sailplanes. Call/text the Alberni Valley Soaring Association (250-730-7627) the morning of your flight to notify them of paragliding activity.
Comments
Typically strong thermic conditions. Sometimes a strong inflow comes from the Port Alberni inlet.
