Take-off description
Very easy takeoff, might even be suitable for beginners. Does require experienced people to check that there is no rotor, or lee thermals. So not a flying side for unaccompanied beginners.
Getting there
Tianeti region, Jijeti village, then up a mountain track. Definitely requires 4x4. About two hours from Tbilisi.
Weather
Thermals can be punchy, and there have been some collapses close to the mountains. Beginners need to stay away from the ridge on the right.
Rules / airspace
None that are relevant
Comments
Typically a very reliable site. So far only limited luck with cross-country, since often the cloud base was too low, or there was an inversion. Once the cloud base went up to 3500 m, but no connecting thermal found. Note that the site is also referred to as 'Tianeti', since this is the district that the village of Jijeti is in. Please be considerate of local shepherds and subsistence farmers. Their goodwill is essential. No site for unaccompanied beginners.
