Take-off description
at the end of the board walk trail look for sign 'Launch area'
Getting there
Just south of down town Empire one can find the Empire Bluff Hiking trail. Park in the parking lot and follow the trail about 3/4 of a mile up hill.
Weather
Spring time flying cold lake temps and warm air over the land make for very rough air and big sink. When one observes soarable winds atop the bluff and no wind waves or wind on the water. Very Hazardous conditions exist...
Rules / airspace
Permit required before flying by National Park Service. One can get permit at Ranger Station in Empire Village. Enforced by both Park Rangers and Pilots alike. Please follow rules to preserve flying site.
