Comments

An ideal launch and landing make Slide one of the more comfortable sites in the area. During the summer, this is one of the most active thermal sites in the area with good XC potential. When not active, Slide is one of the biggest sledders in the area with several thousand feet of vertical relief. Be respectful of the Mt Rose parking lot and staff on site to help keep this an option for us. Hazards: Mountain flying with thermal activity. Limited emergency LZs while in the mountains. Unpredictable wind shear at various layers depending on wx. Be mindful of wind gradient and rotor potential as you launch mid-slope on the lee side of the typical prevailing winds.
