Take-off description
Hike two minutes back down the road from the radio tower to find the trailhead. There is a cutline along Ta'an Kwäch'än Council settlement land to the launch which will take 45-60 minutes hiking in summer and over an hour in spring with snow shoes. It's a beautiful view.
Getting there
Head north out of Whitehorse head North up the Klondike Highway. Turn left of Vista Road and follow it to the top to the radio tower and park there.
Weather
Weather can develop quickly here.
Rules / airspace
This can be a turbulent area for fixed wing. It's also along the flight path for Air North so air-band radio is recommended.
Comments
This site is well worth the hike and has several XC options. A Yukon flight of over 90 km was set here. Pilots can fly North towards Lake Laberge, Souch back to Cousin's Airstrip, or West towards Haines Junction. Longest record was towards Haines Junction.
