Descrizione del decollo
The site has a large flat takeoff area (see photos). As there is very little slope it can be difficult to launch in weak wind conditions. Add TO: further up the ridge
Come arrivare
The launch site is just off the 'main' road running between Tiznit and Tafraoute, close to the Kerdous Hotel which is approximately half way between these two towns. The drive from Tiznit is approx 1 hour 15 minutes. From Tiznit, the turn off to launch is just after the Kerdous Hotel, on the right (see photo). From the turn off on the main road, it is approx 800 metres to the launch area. Unlike some sites in Morocco,there is a surfaced road all the way to the launch area.
Meteo
The conditions can change quite quickly at times in the mountain and one has to be careful to monitor what is going on while you are in the air.
Regole / spazio aereo
Not aware of any regulations in the area. It is well away from any commercial flight routes.
Commenti
This site is great for soaring in non thermic conditions, but can also provide thermal flying in the afternoon over the valley. There is a long North facing ridge to the left of take off which is good for soaring or gaining height before heading out over the valley. In the late afternoon of a hot day, there is good restitution lift over the valley and in the right condition it is possible to fly a long way down the valley in smooth conditions.
