Description du décollage

Only 45m above sea level on the beautiful 'devil's washboard' coast. soar the ridge for several kilometers to the south with the pacific ocean surf crashing down below. show off in front of the crowds by buzzing the highway-side visitor center and slaloming palm trees along the coastal road. must be experienced!

Accès

about 20 minutes south of miyazaki city

Météo

if the wind gets just a little too strong, it becomes virtually impossible to land, with no escape! better land in a hurry at the first sight of whitecaps on the ocean! similarly, if the wind dies and you are 3km away on the other end of the ridge, you are going down, baby. landing on the washboard rocks below means broken legs unless one is very skillful. both wind phenomena do happen regularly and unpredictably! even though (in fact, because) the scale is small, this is an area for skillful flyers only!

Réglementation / espace aérien

none, but heed the advice of local flyers. particularly, someone is always watching the wind and giving useful advice over the radio (in japanese, of course).

Commentaires

easily the most amazing ridge soaring site in kyushu, and one of the best in japan. though the ridge is only 2-3km X 150m high, flying here is a lot of fun.
