Description du décollage

Squamish is known to be windy! Not flyable on a N wind. Best to have SW direction for the takeoff. It is smooth granite slab with a nice sloped launch that eventually cliffs out. You should have more than enough room to be flying before it does but be aware of it. 20-30 seconds after you take off you are hitting the edge of the Chief, and it is a 600m vertical cliff. Make sure mid valley winds are not crazy. You could be doing forward launch in zero wind on the summit, and there can be 30-40km winds over the valley. Pay attention to what the water is doing in the valley - if there are white caps it's too windy.

Accès

parahiking only, about 1 hr hike up

Météo

watch crazy mid summer winds. Usually in the summer you can only fly before 10 am and right before sunset

Commentaires

unforgettable flight, spectacular, but watch crazy strong mid valley winds. If you see kiteboarders on water DO NOT LAUNCH.
