Description du décollage

The take-off a south/east facing grassy meadow, wide enough to allow 5 paraglider take-offs at the same time. There are several wind indicators. It is relatively easy to perform top-landing in dynamic conditions. Behind the take-off area there is a horizontal lawn which can be used for pre-flight checks of the paraglider. There are a few benches available to the public. Beware of the 130 kVolt power line located behind the take-off vertical, at a height of about 40 metres.

Accès

Motorway A-10 GENOVA - VENTIMIGLIA Exit Albenga, immediately after the tollbooth turn left towards Pieve di Teco. After about 1 km at the roundabout continue towards Pieve di Teco. Take the motorway, pass through two tunnels, at the exit of the second tunnel turn right and immediately after turn left, always for Pieve di Teco. Then continue on state road 453. Once in Pieve di Teco, go through the village and after about 2 km turn left at the sign for Mendatica and the paragliding take-off point. Continue for 8 kilometres until you reach the landing strip, which is located 2 kilometres before the village of Mendatica, on the right-hand side of the road, easily identifiable by the fixed wind-sleeve and the notice board with the landing strip instructions. To take off, continue along the road past the village of Mendatica and after 5 kilometres you will arrive in S. Bernardo di Mendatica. At the fork, turn right and continue for about 1 km. Near a curve to the left, there is the take-off point, easily identifiable by the presence of a notice board and a fixed wind sock. Motorway A-6 TORINO - SAVONA The flight can also be reached from the north by exiting the motorway at Ceva and continuing along state road 28 until after Colle di Nava, then turning left for S.Bernardo di Mendatica.

Météo

Beware of the 130 kVolt power line passing over the vertical of the take-off, at a height of about 40 metres, which is only annoying in the event of a top landing or sailing near the take-off. Beware of the slight slope in the last few metres in front of the landing, recently extended landing field.

Commentaires

Once you have taken off, keep to the left-hand ridge, where there are a couple of service thermals. In the presence of dynamics, it is possible to soar close to the take-off, Once a certain altitude has been reached, continue the flight by crossing a small valley to a ridge overlooking the landing site. Here it is often possible to fly up the whole mountain to an altitude that allows you to move into the valley as far as Colle di Nava, and even above the village of Pieve di Teco. On the other hand, the traverse above the village of Mendatica, where there are no significant ascents, is less fruitful. To land, you can descend into the centre of the valley, and then carry out the final climb with an 8 or left C circuit.
