Description du décollage
Grassy south facing ridge that collects the afternoon seabreeze. Can give good thermic flying (leading to XC) at times. NB: This site is only open October thru April. Contact the THPA (see below) for detailed info.
Accès
30 minutes from Hobart. The site is on private land. Please travel to this site with a THPA member, and only during the open period.
Météo
Watch for a sudden increase in strength of the seabreeze.
Réglementation / espace aérien
3500 ft asl ceiling above/behind launch, but changes to 2500 ft, approx 2.5 klms in a SE direction out front.
Commentaires
The current Winton site record (straightline distance from launch to landing) was set in Jan 2005 by Rob Steane. It started at this site and after a 60 klm flight in a NW direction, ended at Catagunya Rd, NW of Ouse. This was also the open Tasmanian record, for the next six years.
