Description du décollage

Take the main road W from Skardu for about 10km to village called Skardo on some maps (not sure if correct name) Turn S on the tarmac road leading 1km up to the Army base. Skirt the base on the right hand (W) side and follow a rough track for 500m. At the fork take the track on the right leading up the hill and follow for 5km approx. Perhaps 1hr by jeep from Skardu. When you start to reach the irrigated zone of the Chunda valley stop and walk W up a gentle U shaped valley passing a cricket pitch to reach the lip overlooking the Skardu valley.

Accès

Skardu is about 24 hrs by bus from Islamabad or a 1hr flight (9000 rupees for foreigners)

Météo

Watch out for strong valley winds after 4pm

Réglementation / espace aérien

This site overlooks the airport and the military base and you should contact both before flying there. The control tower will be fine with afternoon flights since there is only usually one flight in the morning. The military may request you not to take photographs but are not that interested.

The site faces NE but seems to have plenty of anabatic flow during the afternoon.
